A Crooner's Nightmare

   Kit Castleman is introduced to her first cousin, Samatha Crisp, when world-famous country singer Press Hartung is accused of murdering rapper D'Lil"boy in a New York City Hospital. Faced with compelling evidence against their client, Kit and Sam pursue alternative suspects while enjoying the development of their familial relationship.

    From a thieving agent to several angry husbands whose wives have slept with the rapper to a widow grieving the murder of her policeman husband in a manner suggested by one of D'Lil'boy's raps, Kit, Sam, and the defense team seek a killer other than their client. The investigation reveals the alarming truth about drug overdoses in New York City, including at the hospital where the rapper was overdosed.

    The cast of characters are brought to life through credible motivations and believable dialogue. As usual, the pace of the plot development is constant motion, building a tension and atmosphere that leaves the reader hungry for the next chapter of the story..

        In the end, Kit and Sam face the likelihood that they may have discovered a serial killer, but be unable to prove it. As usual, they devise a unique way to defend their client and expose the killer.
